Easy Tic-Tac-Toe faces an opponent that plays at random. It's the ideal version to win while practising or to play with little ones.
Tic-Tac-Toe easy
You play as X. Click an empty cell.
How to play Tic-Tac-Toe
Tic-Tac-Toe (or noughts and crosses) is played on a 3×3 grid. You use the X and the computer the O; you take turns placing your symbol in an empty cell. Whoever lines up three matching symbols horizontally, vertically or diagonally wins.
In Grafito, you click an empty cell to place your X and the computer responds automatically. Choose the level to adjust the opponent's intelligence, from a rival that plays at random to an AI that never loses.
Tic-Tac-Toe rules
- The board is a 3×3 grid; you play with X and the computer with O.
- Each player places their symbol, in turns, on an empty cell.
- Whoever lines up three matching symbols horizontally, vertically or diagonally wins.
- If the nine cells fill up with no line, the game ends in a draw.
Tips & strategy
- If you go first, playing the centre or a corner gives you more possible winning lines.
- Always watch the opponent's two moves: if it can line up three, block it before attacking.
- Try to create a 'double threat' (two lines about to complete at once): the opponent can only cover one.
- Against the hard AI a draw is the best possible result: play solid and leave no gaps.
FAQ
How do you win at Tic-Tac-Toe?
By lining up three of your symbols (the X) horizontally, vertically or diagonally before the computer does.
Can you always win?
On easy and medium, yes, with good strategy. On hard the computer plays optimally with minimax, so the best you can aim for is a draw.
Who do I play against?
Against the computer. You can choose three opponent levels: random, basic strategy or an unbeatable AI.
Who starts the game?
You always start, with the X. The computer responds with the O after each of your moves.
Why do I sometimes only manage a draw?
Because on the hard level the opponent computes the perfect move every turn. Tic-Tac-Toe, played well by both sides, always ends in a draw.
Is it free?
Yes, free, account-free and playable on any device.
