Easy Minesweeper uses a 9×9 board with ten mines, the classic beginner format. With the first click always safe, it's ideal to learn how to read the numbers.

How to play Minesweeper

Minesweeper is a deduction game. Hidden under the board are mines, and your goal is to uncover every cell that doesn't contain one. When you uncover a safe cell, a number appears showing how many mines are in the eight cells around it.

In Grafito, click to uncover a cell and right-click (or press and hold on mobile) to place a flag where you think there's a mine. The first click is always safe: you'll never lose on your first move. You win when you've uncovered every safe cell.

• Each number shows how many mines are in the eight neighbouring cells.
• The first click is never a mine: mines are placed afterwards, avoiding that area.
• Flag the cells you think are mined so you don't uncover them by mistake.
• You win by uncovering every mine-free cell; you lose if you uncover a mine.

Tips & strategy

• If a number has as many covered cells around it as its value, they're all mines: flag them.
• If a number already has all its mines flagged, the rest of its neighbours are safe: uncover them.
• Start with the zero areas: they open up in a cascade and give you a lot of free information.
• When in doubt, look for another part of the board with more clues before risking a guess.
